Geography
Morro de São Paulo is located in the region of Costa do Dendê in the state of Bahia. It is situated on an island named Tinharé which is 60 km south of Salvador. Streching across 400 sqare kilometers the island of Tinharé also is home of the town Gamboa, Garapuá and Galeão.
Tinharé belongs to the county of Cairu whose capital is also called Cairu. The islands Tinharé, Cairu and Boipeba along with some smaller islands make up the Tinharé archipelago.
