Gamboa is a fisher village located close to Morro de São Paulo. It has a quiet beach with fine white sand and calm waters. It is less frequented than the beaches in Morro de SP, however it has a good infrastrucure with many barracs where you can enjoy a ice-cold beer and taste the local food - all while sitting practically on the beach.
You can get to Gamboa by boat of by foot. The boat trip between Morro de SP and Gamboa takes about 10 minutes and the boats regularly depart from the harbor of Morro de São Paulo to the quay of Gamboa. From there it is only a few steps to the beach barracs.
If you go by foot you will also start at the harbor of Morro de SP and then simply walk along the beach. However, you can only walk this way along the beaches when there is low-tide. Please ask at your hotel about the current hours of the tide. Please also be aware that these hours change from day to day. At certain times of the day parts of the way are under water and certain beaches you will pass along the way can only be accessed by boat.
A nice combination of both ways is to walk from Morro de SP to Gamboa at low tide - then have lunch there and take the boat back when the water is rising.
