Ponta da Pedra Beach

Ponta da Pedra Beach in Morro de São Paulo

The Ponta da Pedra Beach (tip of the rock) starts next to the Porto de Cima Beach. It is another lonely deserted beach. There are no hostels or restaurants - a quiet oasis for the lovers of deserted beaches. Only the local Yacht Club comes here to anchor their boats.

It is surrounded by native rain forest and in the water you will find many rocks - some of them aligned in a way that they form natural pools - depending on the tide. Just like Porto de Cima and Ponta da Pedra this beach is not frequented by many tourists as it is rather a passage to Gamboa and not so much a destination of its own.

If you walk in the direction of Gamboa you will come across 'encosta de argila' - a rock with red mud which is supposed to be good for the skin.

Ponta da Pedra is just 15 minutes from the main port of the village but this passage only exists at low tide. At high tide you can access it using the road 'Rua do Porto de Cima' which is close to Fonte Grande and gives access to Porto de Cima and continues through beira mar to Ponta da Pedra.
